update from whistler backcountry

Being patient and waiting for sunshine and snow paid off -
Back from Japan for only 8 hours, Chris Rasman and Colin DWatt manned up and joined JF Fortin and myself on a fun day up in the Whistler Backcountry!

We built a sick jump and all 3 of us got shots,
then Rasman sent a HUGE back7 into baked snow and snapped his board,
so him and JF went down early while DWatt and I scoped around to some more spots until sundown..

Trying some new angles on my GoPro while seeking new jump spots and fresh snow

a day in the backcountry

Been out in the Whistler backcountry shredding with Dave Short and Hockenstein. We've been on a superfun program - just drawing our lines on to the white untouched mountains and exploring new valleys and bowls.
Here is a little video Brian made on one of those days last week…

Spring Grouse Shoot Day 2...

Day two of our Grouse Session started a bit slow with everyone pretty beat up from yesterdays jump session.  After numerous coffees and a few Bob Marley tracks we got down to business once again.

Tadej Valentan landed a pretty amazing trick off this rail, what was even more amazing was how flat he landed.

Next blog coming to you from Europe...

Spring Grouse Shoot Day 1...

Day one of our Spring Session at Grouse Mountain turned out to be another amazing experience.  We almost had our entire crew out for this session plus a ton of friends that we invited to join this stress free super fun session.  Some of the other invitees were Mikey Rencz, Eero Niemela, Wiley T, Beau Bishop, Barry Hartman even currently injured Chris Dufficy joined us for some good times.

Thanks again to Jeff Silcock, Chuck @ PYP and the entire Grouse Staff  in helping make this years session another great success.

Big shout out to Phil Tifo for providing us with some behind the scenes photos.

Vera on Fuel TV...

Here is a clip from the Dailey Habit with Vera Janssen reping Alterna quite nicely for our friends the yankees at Fuel TV.

Hello my name is Vera and I am the new kid on the blog :)

here is a funny story from my second day out with the Alterna- Crew (which was today):

While JF and Vince were building this jump, Rob and I went scouting for some more natural spots. We pinned it across the lake, where another film crew was doing their thing. We checked out another zone but the snow there was super crappy. So we raced back across the lake, next to each other, and last time I checked we were going about 75 mph - and that's when my belt blew. Right on front of that other film crew. Of course Rob took off. (He actually went to talk shit on me to JF and Vince because he thought I had ditched him to go talk to those other boys.)

So here I am, out on the lake, torn apart belt pieces all over me, my sled, and the snow, and some curious boys waiting to see what happens next. It was so quiet, I could hear their thoughts "That's why you don't bring girls out here, man"
The ending is kinda boring. I threw on my spare belt (it actually required a little more force than that), waved my greasy fingers HELLO to those boys, and then took off back to Rob, JF, Vince, and Julien....

It's been crazy

It's been a crazy past couple of weeks - Ullr has blessed us with snow, and blue skies; but just as quickly as they come - they disappear. . .

We've been making the best of our winter though, having frequent interior trips, and plenty of Whistler backcountry sessions! We've recently teamed up with Sims rider Gaetan Chanut, Billabong rider Benji Ritchie, and Nikita rider Vera Janssen, adding a few new faces to already familiar Alterna Films Crew.

Matt Belzile has returned back from the "Ante Up" at C.O.P. in Calgary after placing fifth and winning some money!

Tadej Valentan has just left Whistler to embark on a European trip with outerwear sponsor Horsefeathers ! Look out for him on the road - I think he took his new bike!
